Harmanpreet Kaur will captain the Indian women’s cricket team, which is set to be played across four venues in India and one in Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2. Smriti Mandhana was announced as her deputy for the 50-over mega-event on Tuesday (August 19). In the team picked for the ODI World Cup, there was, however, no place for Shafali Verma.

All-rounder Amanjot Kaur will miss the three-match ODI series against Australia in front of home fans but is part of the ODI World Cup squad.

The pace attack will be led by Renuka Singh Thakur, who is making a return after missing the England series due to injury.

The 15-member squad features the likes of Jemimah Rodrigues, Harleen Deol, Deepti Sharma and Pratika Rawal, among others. Richa Ghosh is India’s first-choice wicketkeeper-batter, and as her deputy, Yastika Bhatia has been picked.
