Krishna Janmashtami Puja Vidhi And Rituals
Many devotees observe a fast on Janmashtami. Some keep a nirjala vrat (no food or water till midnight), while others follow a phalahar fast (only fruits, milk, and water). The fast is usually broken at midnight, the time believed to be Lord Krishna’s birth.
Before the puja, devotees bathe and wear traditional attire. The idol of Bal Krishna is bathed, dressed in new clothes, and adorned with jewellery. Bhajans, mantras, and readings from the Bhagavad Gita or Krishna Leela are performed throughout the day.
From city streets to temples, the air fills with chants of “Hare Krishna”, colourful decorations, and the joyous celebration of the beloved deity’s birthday.
