In the latest ICC ODI batter’s ranking released on Wednesday, Rohit leapfrogged Babar Azam to take the No. 2 position. He has 756 rating points to his credit.

India’s ODI captain Rohit Sharma jumped one place on Wednesday (August 13) to become the new world No. 2 ODI batter. The 38-year-old right-handed batter from Mumbai last played a 50-over match for India on March 9, 2025, against New Zealand in Dubai and scored 76 runs from 83 balls in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final. The right-handed opening batter has 756 rating points to his credit.
Rohit’s rise in the ODI batter’s rankings after former Pakistan captain and star batter Babar Azam dropped to third. Babar could only manage to score 56 runs in three matches of recently concluded away series against the West Indies. The 30-year-old right-handed batter from Lahore has 751 rating points.
India’s Test captain Shubman Gill continues to top the ICC Test batter’s ranking. The 25-year-old right-handed batter from Punjab has 784 rating points. Middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer is in eighth position with 704 rating points and Virat Kohli takes fourth position with 736 rating points.
In Test cricket, Yashasvi Jaiswal is India’s highest ranked batter. The 23-year-old left-handed is in fourth place with 792 points.
In ICC T20I batter’s rankings, Tilak Varma jumped one place to become world No. 2 T20I batter.
