Malaika Arora’s sculptural saree gown draws inspiration from the Indian saree.

Malaika Arora looked glamorous in the moonstone celestial saree gown at Gaurav Gupta’s bridal couture show in Mumbai.
Nothing is sexier than the saree, and when it’s reimagined as a cosmic sculpture, you can only expect magic and drama! Malaika Arora brought oomph, style and celestial goddess-like energy on the red carpet in a sculptural saree gown.
Malaika Arora made heads turn at the Gaurav Gupta Couture show red carpet in Mumbai. Looking like a vision in ivory, Malaika Arora gave the Indian saree a sexy makeover in one of Gaurav’s iconic saree gowns, from the Arunodaya collection.
The sculptural silhouette, dramatic high slit and Malaika’s impeccable style together brought glamour and glitz to the bridal couture show. The moonstone Celestial saree gown reimagines the Indian saree as a cosmic sculpture. And the silhouette felt like it was crafted for the one and only, style icon, Malaika.
The silhouette is sculpted in moonstone ivory with sheer architectural drapes, a dramatic high slight and a sculptural palla, envisioned as a celestial extension of the body. Exuding glamour and sparkle on the red carpet, Malaika’s ensemble featured tonal sequins that shimmer like stardust, capturing both light and movement.
With her hair styled in a top knot and her dewy makeup, including a nude lip colour, Malaika’s stylish look for the night was completed with sparkling oval-shaped earrings and silver stilettos. Adding a pop of colour to the serene tones was the red nail polish that stood out in this surreal look.
Gaurav Gupta, India’s leading avant-garde couturier, unveiled a powerful new vision for Indian bridal wear with the debut of his first-ever bridal couture collection for the wedding day, in Mumbai. Marking his most rooted collection to date, this moment has been a year in the making, a deliberate creative pause from the Paris Haute Couture calendar to focus on something far more intimate: a homecoming.
This is the designer’s most personal work yet, a tribute to love, to ritual, and the endless possibilities of reinvention. These are not garments meant to conform to bridal archetypes; they are meant to expand them. Each piece is envisioned as a future heirloom, one that holds ancestral memory while reflecting the individuality of a new generation. With this landmark debut, Gaurav Gupta doesn’t just present bridal wear — he redefines it.
A night of Bollywood and bridal wear, the Gaurav Gupta showcase was attended by celebrities including Khushi Kapoor, Disha Patani, Vijay Varma, among others.
