Raksha Bandhan 2025: This year’s festival brings added joy as it will be free from the shadow of Bhadra.

Raksha Bandhan, celebrated with full enthusiasm and affection in the Hindu religion, is a cherished festival honouring the eternal bond between brothers and sisters. This year, Raksha Bandhan is being celebrated today on August 9, with double auspiciousness, as it falls under Sarvarth Siddhi Yoga and Shobhan Yoga. Both these yogas are considered highly favorable, with scriptures stating that any work performed during this time yields success.

Alongside Raksha Bandhan, today also marks Shravan Purnima, a day of holy bathing and charity. This year’s festival carries added joy as it is free from the shadow of Bhadra, which is considered inauspicious for tying rakhi. Celebrating during shubh muhurat without Bhadra is believed to be fully in accordance with tradition.

However, there is a period of Rahu Kaal during today’s muhurat, which should be avoided as it is deemed unfavorable. Despite this, there is a total of 7 hours and 37 minutes of auspicious time available for tying rakhi. Here are the auspicious muhurats for tying rakhi, the mantras to be recited during the rituals, and the puja samagri needed to celebrate Rakhi at its best:
