Ace India batter Virat Kohli sent a heartfelt message to his ‘Miyaan’ Mohammed Siraj, after the latter picked a match-winning five-wicket haul to take India to a six-run win against England on Day 5 of the fifth Test at the Oval, as India ended the series with a 2-2 draw.
England started the day with the upper hand, needing just 35 runs with four wickets in hand, but Siraj, in true gladiator spirit, made life miserable for their batters from the very first ball.
Siraj was named Player of the Match for his nine-wicket haul, stepping up in a game where India were without ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested for workload management.
“Great win by Team India. Resilience and determination from Siraj and Prasidh have given us this phenomenal victory. Special mention to Siraj, who will put everything on the line for the team. Extremely happy for him ❤️@mdsirajofficial @prasidh43,” Kohli tweeted on Monday evening.

“Thank you bhaiya for ‘Believe’ing in me ❤️,” Siraj replied.
Siraj, India’s stoic warrior throughout the series, made the old ball talk in his opening over from the Pavilion End, getting it to move away.
The dangerous Jamie Smith (2) was beaten in the first two deliveries before a third one in the off-stump area took the outside edge on its way to Dhruv Jurel, causing the sizeable Indian fandom in the stadium to erupt in unison.
Every delivery of that Siraj over was an event. After the much-needed breakthrough, a half chance was created against Gus Atkinson the very next delivery on the fifth stump, but KL Rahul didn’t take it at second slip.
