Star India wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel on Monday shared a fun video with Mohammed Siraj, who picked a match-winning five-wicket haul in the fifth and final Test of the series against England to ensure Shubman Gill’s men return home with a 2-2 draw against the hosts to their credit.
With four wickets in hand and 35 runs to get, England held the edge before the start of play but the gladiator in Siraj made life hell for the opposition batters from ball one.
Siraj was adjudged player of the match for his nine-wicket match haul for the team that was missing ace India pacer Jasprit Bumrah in this match because of his workload management.
“I only believe in Miyaan bhai,” Jurel said in the video, as Siraj laughed out loud. Watch the video here:
Siraj, India’s stoic warrior in the series, made the old ball talk in his opening over from the pavilion end and got the ball to shape away.
Every ball of that Siraj over to Jamie Smith was an event. After the much-needed breakthrough, a half opportunity was created against Gus Atkinson the very next delivery on the fifth stump, but KL Rahul didn’t take that half chance at second slip.
In his following over, Siraj foxed Jamie Overton with a nip backer as the batter expected the bowler to continue with the off-stump line.
Prasidh backed up Siraj from the other end by reducing England to 350/9, a full delivery trapping Josh Tongue in front and drawing a deafening roar from the partisan crowd.
With the field spread out, Siraj fired a yorker to shatter Atkinson’s off-stump, bringing a heart-stopping end to the match.
Meanwhile, Jurel had come in as a replacement for vice-captain Rishabh Pant, who was injured in the fourth Test and had to be ruled out of the fifth.
