In the ongoing five-match Test series between India and England, KL Rahul scored a total of 532 runs in 10 innings.

KL Rahul played as an opening batter for India in all five matches of the ongoing series against England, and in 10 innings, with the help of two centuries and as many fifties, he amassed a total of 532 runs. In the two innings of the fifth and final Test between India and England at The Oval, the 33-year-old right-handed batter could only manage to score 14 and 7 runs.
Had Rahul managed to score 11 more runs in the ongoing match, he would have taken his tally of runs to 543 in the ongoing series, and that would have helped him break Sunil Gavaskar’s record of scoring the most runs for India in a Test series in England.
Gavaskar played four matches for India as an opener in England in 1979 and amassed a total of 542 runs.

Gavaskar played 16 Tests for India in England and amassed a total of 1152 runs.
On the other hand, Rahul has 1129 runs to his credit now in 13 matches as opener. He needed to score at least 31 runs in the second innings to go past Gavaskar’s tally but he got out after making 7 runs from 28 balls during the second session of second day’s play.
Rahul overall has 1146 runs to his name in 14 Tests in England. He batted at No. 3 in his first-ever Test match in England and scored a total of 17 runs.
