Twin sisters Surabhi and Samriddhi Mehra, popularly known as the Chinky Minky duo on YouTube, left their fans worried with the announcement of their separation recently. This prompted social media users to express their concern and heartbreak, only to learn the real reason behind it.
In a recent conversation, the duo clarified that their cryptic post was merely a stunt. Revealing that it was a promotional activity for their upcoming reality show, Chhoriyan Chali Gaon, the sisters mentioned that they would appear as individual contestants. S
Surabhi and Samriddhi also admitted that it was only a subtle attempt to create ‘buzz’. “Pehli baat koi separation nahi huya hai. Chinky Minky ko koi bhi alag nahi kar sakta hai, (First of all, there’s no separation),” they said to TellyTalkIndia/Zoom.
The twins added, “Humara post was related to this show (Chhoriyan Chali Gaon). Hum sath me jaa rahe hai iss show mein, but as individual contestants. No one can separate Chinky and Minky. (Our post was related to our show (Chhoriyan Chali Gaon). We’re going together in the show, but as individual contestants.”
They continued, “Hum dono sath mein kaam karna kabhi nahi chorenge. We had to post it for the show’s promotion. Hume bas thora sa buzz create karna tha. But thora sa buzz mughe nahi pta tha itna bada buzz hojayega. Koi sibling divorce, separation nahi ho raha. (We’ll never stop working together. We had to post it for the show’s promotion. We just wanted to create a little buzz, but I didn’t expect it to blow up this much. There’s no sibling divorce or separation happening).”
On July 3, they shared a collaborative picture message on Instagram, writing, “With a heavy heart we are parting ways now as Jodi. We have decided to explore our life on our individual journeys from here on.”
The post was captioned: “Grateful for everything we’ve shared and excited for what lies ahead. Keep cheering for both of us with your love and blessings.”
Chhoriyan Chali Gaon will air on Zee TV beginning at the end of July, featuring female celebrities from urban areas in a rural village setting for over 60 days. Hosted by Rannvijay Singha, the contestants will be deprived of any technological equipment, such as phones and luxuries, and will be asked to engage in traditional tasks like cooking, fetching water from a distance, and others, as per reports. Other contestants are reportedly Anita Hassanandani, Aishwarya Khare, and Rameet Sandhu.
