The fifth and final Test of the ongoing five-match series between India and England is taking place at The Oval in London. For the last match of the England tour, India have made four changes to the playing XI. Jasprit Bumrah, Anshul Kamboj, and Shardul Thakur are not playing in the fifth Test along with injured Rishabh Pant. In Bumrah’s absence, Mohammed Siraj will lead India’s bowling attack and will have Akash Deep and Prasidh Krishna for support.

Ahead of the start of the fifth India-England Test at the iconic stadium in London, former South African fast bowler South Africa made a bold prediction on X. According to Steyn, Mohammed Siraj will take a five-wicket haul at The Oval.

“Siraj to take a fifer in 5th Test,” Steyn tweeted.

Siraj, who is India’s joint-highest wicket-taker in the ongoing series, picked up six wickets for 70 runs in the first innings of the second Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham. However, he failed to replicate his performance in the next two Tests.

In the third India-England Test at Lord’s, he dismissed two English batters in the first innings and picked up two wickets in the second innings as well.

In the fourth Test, he bowled 30 overs and picked up one wicket for 140 runs.

Siraj needs one wicket to…

In the fifth India-England Test, Siraj will have a chance to complete 200 wickets in international cricket for India. As of now the 31-year-old fast bowler has 199 wickets to his credit in 100 matches for Team India. Since making his international debut for India against New Zealand on November 4, 2017, during a T20I match played in Rajkot, Siraj has picked up 114 wickets in 40 Tests, 71 wickets in 44 ODIs, and 14 wickets in 16 T20Is.

He is one of the four Indian bowlers to take at least 100 wickets in the World Test Championship, and he has dismissed a total of 37 batters in 11 Tests played so far in England. Of those 37 wickets, he has picked 32 against the English team and five against the Australian team during the WTC 2023 final played at The Oval from June 7 to 11 in 2023.
