HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 is finally here

Xiaomi’s much awaited Android 16 version is here. The HyperOS 3 update has been announced in China this week and there is good news for people using some of the recent Xiaomi and Poco devices. The new HyperOS version picks up cues from Android 16 with some visible design and UI changes that make the app icons look more pronounced and also adding new privacy features. Xiaomi will have both HyperOS for China and the Global variants rolling out in the next few weeks.

The company’s usual OS roll out cycle has been slow over the years and it seems they are just going to start with the Android 16 beta program, hinting at a later release date for the stable version. Google has already offered the stable Android 16 update for Pixel users, while has started its own One UI 8 beta program.

HyperOS 3 Release: What You Get

The new HyperOS 3.0 version brings UI overhaul with the apps looking different thanks to darker shade and gradient, something that we have seen with the iOS 26 beta version. It even has a Dynamic Island version called Super Island which gives you real-time updates for delivery or flight status and charging range on the top notch.

The dialer app has also become more informative but that is only available with the Chinese ROM for the HyperOS. The app launch speed will be faster, and even for gamers they will get improved latency response time. There are some new dynamic lockscreen and wallpaper additions also on offer.

More importantly, Xiaomi is also making its devices compatible with iPhones and Mac for seamless data transfer.
