Indri becomes world’s fastest-growing single malt whisky for second year in a row


In a pioneering achievement for India’s alcobev industry, Indri has emerged as the fastest-growing single malt whisky brand globally for the second year in a row, with sales crossing 2.04 million bottles (1,70,000 nine-litre cases) in 2024.

The homegrown brand from Piccadily Agro Industries, has now become the largest-selling single malt in India, according to data from the International Wine and Spirits Record (IWSR), which ranked Indri as the “Number 1 Malt Whisky in India,” placing it ahead of established global and domestic competitors.

Of the total volumes sold last year, 1,24,000 cases were consumed in the domestic market, while 46,000 cases were exported, highlighting Indri’s growing international footprint. Industry observers say this milestone positions the brand among the first Indian single malts capable of competing directly with global giants.

“For us, it has always been about liquid quality and customer satisfaction. Indri’s portfolio includes the three-wood matured Indri-Trini, cask-strength Indri-Dru, the limited-edition Indri Diwali Collector’s Editions, all highly sought-after in the secondary market, and the ultra-premium Indri Founder’s Reserve 11YO. These expressions have consistently secured gold medals and international honours, including ‘Best in the World’ titles at leading spirits competitions.

The brand attributes its success to distinct flavours, shaped by Indian barley and the unique terroir of its production region. Its rapid ascent comes at a time when India is increasingly making its mark on the global whisky map.

With strong growth momentum, Indri aims to secure a place among the world’s top five single malt brands in the coming years, backed by a strategy of sustained quality and innovation.
