Karva Chauth, one of the most revered festivals for Hindu married women, is observed for the long life, well-being, and prosperity of their husbands. Women keep a strict Nirjala Vrat, breaking it only after offering Arghya to the moon and drinking water from their husband’s hands.
The festival is celebrated annually on the Chaturthi Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the Kartik month, and devotees follow rituals with great devotion and traditional observance. This year, Karva Chauth falls on Friday, October 10, 2025, with all rituals performed according to auspicious timings.

According to Drik Panchang, the Kartik Krishna Chaturthi Tithi for Karva Chauth begins on Thursday, October 9 at 10:54 pm and ends on Friday, October 10 at 7:38 pm. Based on Udayatithi, the festival is observed on October 10.
Puja Muhurat
The Pradosh period on Karva Chauth is considered the most favourable for performing puja. This year, the auspicious time for Karva Chauth rituals is from 5:57 pm to 7:11 pm, allowing about an hour and a quarter for worship.
Moonrise Timing
The Karva Chauth fast is traditionally broken after sighting the moon. According to the Panchang, this year the moon will rise at 8:13 pm, marking the moment when women break their fast with Arghya and water from their husbands.
The Karva Chauth fast will last approximately 14 hours, beginning at sunrise at 6:19 am and ending with moonrise at 8:13 pm. Women will observe a waterless fast for nearly 13 hours and 54 minutes, maintaining their devotion and performing rituals throughout the day.
