iPhone foldable launch is expected with the iPhone 18 series next year and now we have more details about Apple’s first product.

iPhone Fold launch in 2026 is more or less confirmed
Apple could be bringing back the Touch ID for iPhones with its first-ever foldable which is now most likely going to launch in 2026. The company is reportedly planning to have four cameras on this device and have it unveiled along with the iPhone 18 series around September next year.
This is likely to be one of Apple’s most exciting and biggest launches in a year, after giving foldables a miss even though other brands have entered the category and evolved with their products. There could be a lot of similarities with the existing Fold models, and the iPhone Fold version could have a familiar look and feel.
iPhone Fold Launch In 2026: Big Changes Coming
Going with Samsung’s foldable design seems like the best choice for Apple and the report from Bloomberg says the company is internally calling it V68. This means the book-style foldable will have a flat cover screen along with a bigger internal unit that comes with less crease. The report claims Apple can do what its rivals haven’t done so well, by adopting an in-cell touch screen, which should minimise the crease on the main display.
It also claims the iPhone Fold could measure around 9.5mm when folded, and up to 4.8mm when you unfold the device. Besides this, the foldable is expected to have four cameras in total, that has a dual rear camera system with a primary wide sensor and a telephoto lens. While there is one each on the cover and inner screen.
But the other big change with the iPhone Fold could be the return of Touch ID to the lineup after many years of resorting to its Face ID-only strategy. We expect the new security feature to be embedded into the power button like the other foldables offer.
After hearing all these details, people are sure to be excited, and even keen to get their hands on the Apple foldable. However, the report suggests the company could plan for a limited release for its new product if it decides to go with the eSIM-only models. We will be surprised to see that happen, especially when Apple would be eager to sell its foldable in China, one of the biggest markets for the segment, and India to some extent.
There is still plenty of time for the iPhone 18 series launch, and for now, all focus shifts towards the iPhone 17 unveiling, expected early next month.
