Step-by-step guide to prepare Kudumulu

  1. Prepare the Filling: Start by placing the pan on the stove. Add jaggery and water. Let it melt on low heat, then add grated coconut and cardamom powder. Stir until the mixture thickens and once done, turn off the heat. Keep it aside.
  2. Make the Dough: The next step requires you to take another pan, pour water into it and bring it to a boil with a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of ghee. Gradually, add rice flour and make sure you are stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Then, cook it for 2–3 minutes and transfer to a plate. While it is warm, knead it to form a smooth dough.
  3. Shape the Kudumulu: Take out small portions of the dough and give them the shape of cups. Then, place a spoonful of the coconut–jaggery filling inside, close it into the shape of a ball or whatever your preferred choice is.
  4. Steam to Perfection: Then comes the final step which is to arrange the prepared kudumulu in a steamer. Cook for about 10 minutes until soft and glossy and it is ready to be served.

Serve warm as an offering to Lord Ganesha and enjoy them as his blessing with your family.
