Yousuf Khalaf Al Mujaizi, Assistant Director of the Business Development Department at Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said that India remains one of the most significant source markets for Tourism Oman, with over 7 lakh Indian tourists visiting the Gulf nation in 2024.
“Our aim is to have a million Indian tourists visit Oman per year,” Al Mujaizi told PTI, adding that Oman is focusing on segments such as luxury travel, destination weddings, meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE), and adventure tourism.

“We are investing in multi-channel campaigns targeting luxury travel, weddings, MICE and adventure tourism,” he reiterated during the roadshow.
The official highlighted the strong cultural and economic ties between India and Oman, which continue to drive tourism cooperation between the two countries. “India’s vast and diverse traveller base, interested in cultural and natural destinations, makes it a strategic focus for Oman tourism promotional efforts,” he highlighted, according to a press release.
The ‘Focus Oman’ roadshow served as a vital platform for strengthening tourism partnerships, enabling Omani representatives to engage directly with key players in India’s travel trade sector. The three-day event saw participation from 25 Omani tourism entities and drew around 150 Indian tour operators.
Attendees included representatives from Omani tourism bodies, hotels, resorts, and airlines. The event featured bilateral business meetings, destination presentations, and discussions on collaboration opportunities.

Al Mujaizi also highlighted Oman’s unique selling points — its dramatic deserts, mountain ranges, pristine beaches, and rich cultural heritage — which are increasingly appealing to Indian tourists seeking new travel experiences beyond traditional destinations.
With its visa-friendly policies, increasing air connectivity, and tailored marketing initiatives, Oman is positioning itself as a year-round destination for Indian travellers, especially in high-potential segments like weddings and adventure holidays.
