Rinku Singh, who was named in India’s squad in the 2025 Asia Cup, recently turned heads as he was seen rolling arms over and even picked up a wicket in the UPT20.

In a recent interview, the star India batter revealed that he has been making a conscious effort to improve his bowling skills to add more value to the team.

The left-handed batsman revealed that missing out on the previous World Cup squad made him understand the significance of being a versatile cricketer.

What Rinku Singh Said About Bowling?

“In the last World Cup, I wasn’t selected due to team combinations. The selectors wanted more bowling options, and since I wasn’t bowling much, I missed out. That really made me think,” Rinku told News24.

Determined not to repeat the same mistake, he has been concentrating on his part-time bowling. “I’m making an effort to bowl regularly. Even if I can contribute just two or three overs in a match, it will make a big difference. It’s about adding one more skill to my game and helping the team whenever needed,” he explained.

Rinku recalled how his bowling came into play during a tour of Sri Lanka. “In Sri Lanka, Surya bhai (Suryakumar Yadav) asked me to bowl. I was under pressure but managed to deliver and even picked up two wickets. That gave me confidence. It showed me that my bowling can also be useful for the team.”

With the Asia Cup approaching, Rinku is aware of the stiff competition but is determined to give his best in every aspect. “I’ve realised that in international cricket, the more roles you can perform, the more valuable you become. Batting has always been my strength, but now I want to support the team with the ball too, whenever the captain needs me.”

As India prepares for the Asia Cup, Rinku’s added skill could prove handy, whether or not he gets to bowl.
