Karun Nair was included in India’s playing XI on Thursday (July 31) for the fifth Test against England, and he justified his selection by scoring a half-century in the third session of the opening day’s play. Nair came out to bat at No. 5 for India, and he needed 89 balls to complete his half-century. Nair reached the 50-run mark by taking two runs on the first ball of the 62nd over of India’s innings bowled by Jacob Bethell.
Nair’s last 50+ score for India in Tests was also against the English team. During the India-England Test played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from December 16 to 20 in 2016, Karun scored an unbeaten 303 runs from 381 balls as a No. 5 batter.
