Apple Siri has been around for years but with the big AI shift coming next year, is it time for the company to make a new start?

It is time for Apple to reconsider its plans to keep Siri and make a fresh AI start
Apple’s Siri has faced delays and its AI project is yet to take off. However, latest reports paint the feature in a bright light, talking about big plans to make Siri an invincible force. However, Siri has been lagging behind its rivals for years, even when it had started off as an assistant in the market.
Apple has tried everything to make it work like other assistants but people have been barely impressed with what they got. Siri has kind of become a laughing stock, so much that companies like Google have mocked Apple for teasing features that never made it to the public.
Siri AI Reboot: Time For A Name Change?
Siri has a history and it seems that is part of Apple’s problem going into the future. The company wants to persevere with the name for the assistant and make it AI-powered but probably it is the right time to move in a new direction and branding?
We’ve seen this story work out with Google, which shifted focus away from Google Assistant and made everything come under Gemini, which is also now the default assistant for its devices. Reports have talked about Apple relying on external forces to power its AI assistant and that could also work better than having reworked Siri from ground up.
Apple’s new Siri AI release could be part of the iOS 26.4 version that may be offered around March and April 2026 for the iPhone users. There is still a lot of time before that happens, and the company should at least consider making a new brand timeline for its AI induction. Yes, the journey will be longer and more challenging but the Siri project has not gone anywhere, and a fresh start won’t be the worst idea.
Apple has been lauded for its innovation and its focus on privacy, and some of that remains true even today. But the AI push needs more impetus and an acceptance that the competition is well ahead right now.
Amazon has also tried to reinvent its focus with Alexa and going fully into the premium model that has seen limited success because of its availability centered around the US market for now. Apple has been late to the AI party but this is a race it would rather win well than become the first and all their deficiencies come to light in front of the public.
