iPhone 17 Pro series could get a useful upgrade this year but will that push Apple to increase its price?

iPhone 17 Pro could finally get the 256GB storage base
Apple iPhone 17 series launch is widely expected on September 9 next month and the leaks have just gotten fiercer with every passing day. Now, there could be some good news for people waiting to buy the new iPhone 17 Pro model and some bad news mixed with it.
The latest rumour says Apple will launch the iPhone 17 Pro model with 256GB storage, which will be a much-wanted change for the lower 128GB model. Bringing the iPhone 17 Pro with higher storage will help Apple increase its SKUs and maybe have a 1TB option for the regular Pro and the 17 Pro Max models this year.
iPhone 17 Pro Starting With 256GB Storage: What Happens To Its Price?
Apple bringing the 17 Pro with 256GB base variant makes a lot of sense and it is high time the premium model does get this upgrade. However, the tipster also claims that the iPhone 17 Pro launch price could see a moderate hike to accommodate this change along with other upgrades expected with the new models.
The tipster says the iPhone 17 price could go up by $50 (Rs 4,200 approx) which will push the starting price range of the new iPhone models in the market.
Going by all these estimates, Apple is tipped to launch the iPhone 17 priced at $850 (comes to Rs 85,000 in India) and well over $1,200 for the iPhone 17 Pro Max model. These figures have been previously touted by analyst firms like Jefferies in its research note, and it seems Apple will have less control on these changes because of a tariff impact.
This year’s trends and other cost factors could make it hard for the company to keep the levels unchanged and people buying the iPhone 17 or 17 Pro models might have to spend more on the new versions. If the company does bring 256GB as the base option, they might feel the upgrade could be worth the price hike.
Either way, we’ll have to wait till Apple officially shares these details at the launch event in less than a month’s time.
