PM Modi flags off Vande Bharat trains, yellow line metro in Bengaluru


Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, August 10, flagged off three Vande Bharat Express trains, including the Bengaluru-Belagavi train.

The trains on two other routes, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to Amritsar, and Ajni (Nagpur) to Pune were flagged off virtually.

The Bengaluru-Belagavi Vande Bharat Express is the 11th Vande Bharat service in the state of Karnataka.

It covers 611 km and would take about 8.5 hours to complete the journey on the route, as per railway officials, reported news agency PTI.

PM Modi also inaugurated the Bengaluru Metro’s yellow line. The cost of the construction of this line is estimated at ₹7,160 crore. The total length of the route spans over 19 km and has 16 stations. 

The total length of the Bengaluru metro has now increased to 96 km.

PM Modi also laid the foundation of Bengaluru Metro Phase 3 project which is estimated at ₹15,610 crore. The total length of the project will be more than 44 km with 31 elevated stations, as per a statement by the government.
