In a post on X, Air India alerted travellers that “flight operations may be impacted”, urging passengers to “check the flight status before heading to the airport” and “allow extra time:” for their journey.

IndiGo also advised flyers to make prior arrangements for travel to the airport, citing traffic disruptions due to flooding in certain areas. “We recommend planning your commute in advance or opting for alternative routes,” the airline stated.

The Delhi International Airport issued a separate advisory asking passengers to consider using the Delhi Metro instead of road transport to avoid delays. The airport authority also urged travellers to verify their flight status with the respective airlines before departure.

According to flight tracking service Flightradar, the inclement weather led to approximately 90 flight delays and four cancellations by Saturday morning. Affected passengers reported long wait times and difficulty reaching the airport due to submerged roads and gridlocked traffic.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast “thunderstorm with rain” for the remainder of the day, with temperatures ranging from a daytime high of 33°C to a low of 25°C by night. Authorities warned of the possibility of further showers later in the day.
Several key areas in the capital were hit particularly hard. Shastri Bhawan, R.K. Puram, Moti Bagh, and Kidwai Nagar witnessed heavy downpours. On Mathura Road and outside Bharat Mandapam’s Gate No. 7, rapid water accumulation brought traffic to a crawl and forced pedestrians to wade through knee-deep water.
With more rain forecast and continued waterlogging in low-lying areas, commuters and airline passengers are advised to stay updated through official channels and allow for extra travel time.
