The iOS 26 beta 5 update is here for iPhone users and Apple is quickly looking to get it off the stable bench by next month.
New week brings another iOS 26 beta update
Apple has dished out the iOS 26 beta 5 update this week which brings new features and alterations for the iPhone users. This being a beta 5 version means the list of new features has come down but it also means the company is getting close to the iOS 26 stable version, as the public beta release suggests. The work is going on at a brisk pace to have the new iOS 26 update ready in time for the new iPhone 17 series launch in September.
iOS 26 Beta 5 Version: New Features Coming Your Way
New Way To Unlock
iOS 26 Beta 5 brings a new animation that you see when you swipe up the screen to unlock the iPhone using the passcode. This change could be in line with the Liquid glass interface as the number pad now jumps on the screen, mirroring the ripple effect on the glass UI. You also get a new animation while you lock the iPhone when playing music.
New Wi-Fi Labels
When you long-press the Wi-Fi icon in the Control center, you will see if the network is private or public. And when a Wi-Fi ID is protected by password you will see a lock under the Wi-Fi icon.
Battery Alert On Dynamic
The iPhone models with the Dynamic island notch will now show you a low battery alert when the device level goes below 20 percent. You can then tap on the alert to enable the low power mode to keep using the iPhone for a little longer.
New AirDrop
Apple has made a tiny change in the share tab where you will see the AirDrop option with a new icon.
Select In Mail
Apple is also making it easy to select mails in the inbox with the new Select button rather than having to find it within the three-dot menu of the app.
iOS 26 Release Date And More We Expect
iOS 26 public beta program has started which means Apple is moving to the next phase of the roll out and allowing more people to try out the new version before it is stable and ready to be unleashed with the new iPhone 17 models once they are official in September. Reports say Apple could plan the iPhone 17 launch event for September 8 or 9 which is quite possible going by its usual timelines.
