Virat Kohli seems to have returned to high-octane cricket practice after the IPL 2025 season in London. On Friday (August 8), he posted a photo with Naeem Amin, the assistant coach at Gujarat Titans, who runs the Mighty Willow Academy in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, in the London area.
Kohli has been in London since the IPL season concluded with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) winning the title and the unfortunate aftermath of a stampede during their victory celebrations. 11 people died, and some activists tried to get Kohli named in one of the FIRs too, though it didn’t materialise.
Kohli has retired from Tests and T20Is, and the only cricket he’ll now play is ODIs and the IPL. India haven’t had any ODIs since the conclusion of the latter and hence he has been out of action entirely.
“Thanks for helping out with the hit brother. Always lovely to see you,” Kohli wrote in an Instagram story, sharing a photo with and tagging Amin.
“Good to see you, brother! See you soon,” Amin said, resharing the story.
Amin has also worked with Sunrisers Hyderabad before. The website of his academy says he has 20 years of coaching experience and specialises in the mechanics of bowling.
When will Virat Kohli be back in action
Kohli would have been in line to make a comeback this month on India’s tour of Bangladesh, but that has been postponed till September next year.
“The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have mutually agreed to defer the white-ball series, three ODIs and three Twenty20 Internationals, between Bangladesh and India in August 2025 to September 2026. This decision has been reached following discussions between the two Boards, taking into account the international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams,” the two boards said in a joint statement.
There were rumors that the BCCI might use the window to schedule an away series against Sri Lanka but that seems unlikely. It would mean Kohli will have to wait till October 19 when India begin a three-match ODI series against Australia to make his return, depending on the selectors choosing him in the team.
