In an emotional post that has moved the internet, former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan shared a heartfelt and personal message about his son Zoravar. He and Aesha Mukerji were married for eight years before going their separate ways. Two years ago, a Delhi court granted Dhawan a divorce on the grounds of mental cruelty by Aesha.

Although Dhawan was granted the divorce, he wasn’t awarded permanent custody of Zoravar, who resides in Australia with Aesha.

As per the judgment, Dhawan is permitted to meet Zoravar in both India and Australia, and can stay in touch through scheduled video calls as well.

“WCL mein jab doston ko apne kids ke saath khelte dekha… bas ek thought aaya, wish Zora was here. It would’ve been a different kind of joy. Later, I came across some of his childhood photos… and suddenly, all those memories came rushing back. Some moments really do stay closest to the heart. ❤️,” Dhawan posted on Instagram on Thursday.

These words, simple yet heartfelt, echoed the deep longing and tenderness of a father missing his son.

Among the pictures shared, one stood out, a beautiful moment featuring Dhawan with Rohit Sharma, his daughter Samaira and little Zoravar.

Though the World Championship of Legends has ended, Dhawan’s post has lingered in the hearts of fans long after the final game.

Meanwhile, India and Pakistan had been slated to meet in the group stage of the tournament, but the Indian team, featuring Dhawan, Yuvraj Singh, Irfan Pathan, Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh, refused to play, citing national sentiment after the terror attack and India’s subsequent ‘Operation Sindoor’.

With India pulling out of the semifinal as well, Pakistan advanced to the final.

Criticising the tournament’s handling of the situation, the Pakistan Cricket Board said, “The cancellation was not based on cricketing merit but on appeasing a specific nationalistic narrative. This sends an unacceptable message to the international sporting community.”
