Indian Railways festival special trains 2026: Check routes, dates and key details

With Dussehra, Diwali and Chhath approaching, Indian Railways is adding special train services on several routes to handle the expected festive-season rush. North Central Railway has listed 1,053 Trains on Demand (TOD) trips across 13 railway zones between October 1 and November 30, while the Solapur Division has separately announced 102 festival special trips for Dussehra and Diwali.

The special services cover routes connecting major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Patna, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Hyderabad, Bihar and several destinations in south India. Several of these trains will run weekly or on selected days during October and November.

Solapur Division: 102 festival special trips

The Central Railway’s Solapur Division will operate 102 special train trips during the festive period, according to ANI. These include services between Mumbai and Chennai, Mumbai and Latur, and Kolhapur and Kalaburagi.

Mumbai-Chennai special train

The CSMT Mumbai-Chennai Beach Weekly Special will make six trips in each direction. The Mumbai-Chennai service will leave CSMT at 12:35 am every Wednesday from October 14 to November 18, reaching Chennai Beach at 11:30 pm the same day. The return service will leave Chennai Beach at 4 am every Thursday from October 15 to November 19 and reach CSMT at 4 am the following day.


The train will stop at Dadar, Thane, Kalyan, Lonavala, Pune, Daund, Kurduwadi, Solapur, Kalaburagi, Wadi, Krishna, Raichur, Mantralayam Road, Adoni, Guntakal, Gooty, Tadipatri, Yerraguntla, Cuddapah, Razampeta, Renigunta, Arakkonam and Perambur.

Mumbai-Latur special train

The Mumbai-Latur Bi-Weekly Special will make 13 trips from each side. The Mumbai service will leave CSMT at 12:35 am every Tuesday and Thursday from October 13 to November 24, reaching Latur at 11:40 am the same day. The return train will leave Latur at 4:30 pm on the same day and reach CSMT at 4:10 am the next day.

The service will halt at Dadar, Thane, Kalyan, Lonavala, Pune, Uruli, Daund, Bhigwan, Jeur, Kurduwadi, Barshi Town, Dharashiv and Harangul.

Kolhapur-Kalaburagi special train

Another 64 trips will operate between Kolhapur and Kalaburagi, with services running every day except Friday from October 10 to November 15. The Kolhapur-Kalaburagi train will leave at 6:10 am and reach Kalaburagi at 4:10 pm, while the return service will leave Kalaburagi at 6:10 pm and reach Kolhapur at 5:40 am the next day.

The train will stop at Hatkanagale, Jayasingpur, Miraj Junction, Arag, Belanki, Sulgare, Kavathe Mahankal, Langarpeth, Dhalgaon, Mhasoba Dongargaon, Javale, Wasud, Sangola, Pandharpur, Modnimb, Kurduwadi Junction, Solapur and Kalaburagi Junction.

Northern Railway festival specials

Northern Railway has announced several services connecting Delhi and other northern cities with Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan. Major routes include Prayagraj-Sabarmati, Kanpur Central-New Delhi, Kanpur Central-Anand Vihar, Prayagraj-Hazrat Nizamuddin, Prayagraj-Dehradun, Subedarganj-Dehradun and Agra Cantt-Palwal. The schedules cover October and November, with some services continuing into December.

Other prominent Northern Railway services include Varanasi-Chandigarh, which will run 36 trips; Anand Vihar-Jogbani, with 10 trips; Anand Vihar-Muzaffarpur, with 26 trips; Delhi-Sitamarhi, with 12 trips; Anand Vihar-Kanpur, with 72 trips; Yog Nagari Rishikesh-Muzaffarpur, with 18 trips; and Anand Vihar-Patliputra, with 120 trips.

The Chandigarh-Patna special will run for 18 trips, while the Firozpur Cantt-Patna service will make 16 trips during the festive period.

 

 

 

 

South Central Railway: More special services

South Central Railway has also announced festival specials on several routes. The Secunderabad-Kakinada Town service will run weekly from October 7 to November 26, with eight trips in each direction. It will halt at Charlapalli, Nalgonda, Miryalaguda, Guntur, Vijayawada, Eluru, Tadepalligudem, Rajahmundry and Samalkot. The trains will have AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, Sleeper and General Second Class coaches.

Another service, the Charlapalli-Nagercoil Express Special, will operate five trips in each direction. The Charlapalli-Nagercoil train will run on September 25 and October 2, 9, 16 and 23, while the return service will run on September 27 and October 4, 11, 18 and 25.

South Central Railway has also announced 38 special trains for Dussehra and Diwali, including services connecting Charlapalli with Prayagraj and other destinations. The railway has scheduled the Charlapalli-Sengottai special on Fridays from October 2 to November 27, with the return service on Saturdays from October 3 to November 28.

Southern Railway: Kerala to Bengal and Rajasthan

Southern Railway has announced the Thiruvananthapuram North-Santragachi Express Special (06081/06082) for the Pooja and Deepavali period. The outbound service will operate on October 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, while the return service will run on October 5, 12, 19 and 26 and November 2.

The route connects Kerala with West Bengal through major stations including Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Kharagpur.

The Thiruvananthapuram Central-Madar Junction (Ajmer) Special (06013/06014) will run for six trips in each direction. The outbound service will operate on Wednesdays from October 21 to November 25, while the return service will run on Saturdays from October 24 to November 28.

When will bookings open?

For the 102 Solapur Division festival special trips, reservations will open on September 27 through computerised reservation centres, the IRCTC website and the RailOne app. Passengers have been advised to travel with valid tickets and check detailed stoppage timings through the Indian Railways enquiry system, RailOne or the NTES app.
