A reversal built on two distorted bases

The shift from June**;s **.** per cent growth to July**;s *.** per cent contraction equals a **.**-percentage-point swing. Yet the two comparisons were unusually distorted in opposite directions.
June **** included a ten-day Eid-ul-Adha holiday, depressing RMG exports to $*.** billion. June ******;s $*.** billion result therefore reflected a return to a normal monthly range rather than a structural demand breakthrough, according to BGMEA. July faced a tougher base: July **** exports had jumped **.** per cent to $*.** billion.
