US’ Carter’s reports 86% sustainable cotton sourcing in 2025



American apparel firm Carter’s, Inc has released its sixth annual Raise the Future Impact Report, setting out its 2025 progress against corporate responsibility commitments relevant to children’s apparel sourcing, materials and retail supply chains. The US-based company said more than 86 per cent of its cotton was sourced through Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) Cotton or organically grown cotton.

The company said more than 60 per cent of its 2025 sales were supported by responsible cotton sourcing through BCI Cotton or came from its Little Planet and PurelySoft collections, which use organically grown cotton or viscose from responsibly managed forests. For manufacturers and buyers, the figures point to continued emphasis on responsible material sourcing in the baby and young children’s segment.

Carter’s has released its annual Raise the Future Impact Report for 2025, informing about progress in its sustainability commitments.
The report says over 86 per cent of 2025 cotton was BCI Cotton or organic, with over 60 per cent of sales tied to responsible cotton.
It cut virgin plastic packaging 90 per cent from 2022, reached 90 per cent recycled content, and expanded takeback and recycling pilots.

On packaging, Carter’s said it reduced virgin plastic packaging by 90 per cent in 2025 against a 2022 baseline, and that recycled content now accounts for 90 per cent of total plastic packaging. Carter’s said in its July 8 release that it also advanced product circularity through pre-consumer textile recycling pilots and expanded KIDCYCLE, its in-store clothing takeback programme.

Under its people commitments, Carter’s said it has invested about $42 million in communities through corporate philanthropy programmes since 2021. In 2025, employees contributed 24,300 volunteer hours, while the company invested more than $8 million in monetary and in-kind donations.

Carter’s describes itself as North America’s largest apparel company focused exclusively on babies and young children, with core brands Carter’s and OshKosh B’gosh.
