Turkiye’s apparel export decline moderated in January-April 2026



According to the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Ministry of Trade, category-wise exports of knitted and crocheted garments (HS **) fell *.* per cent to $*.*** billion, while woven apparel and accessories (HS **) dropped * per cent to $*.*** billion. The decline moderated due to recovery in the latest month, with knitwear continuing to account for the larger share of total shipments. Industry data also indicate that Türkiye’s apparel sector had witnessed steeper declines during the first quarter of **** amid weak European demand and intensifying competition from Asian suppliers.

April data signalled a strong recovery in outbound trade. Knitted apparel exports grew **.* per cent year on year to $***.** million, while non-knitted exports surged ** per cent to $***.** million. Combined shipments under HS ** and HS ** increased **.** per cent to $*.*** billion during the month, indicating a sharp rebound supported by seasonal orders and restocking by European buyers.
