MakeMyTrip upgrades AI chatbot Myra with end-to-end booking features


Online travel platform MakeMyTrip has introduced an upgraded version of its AI-powered assistant Myra, enabling users to complete travel bookings within a single conversational interface.

The updated version, Myra 2.0, allows users to search, select, pay for and confirm bookings through text or voice interactions. The company said the assistant can also process multi-condition travel queries, including hotel requirements such as accessibility features, room configurations and dietary preferences, as well as complex international itineraries.

In one example cited by the company, users can input multi-leg travel plans and receive information on transit visa requirements, passenger-specific documentation and booking options within the same interaction.
The assistant also supports image and document inputs, including passport data extraction for autofill of traveller details, and allows users to ask questions about specific options during the booking process without restarting the search.

MakeMyTrip said Myra handles around three million conversations per quarter, with about 45% of usage coming from tier-2 and smaller cities. It added that users interacting with the assistant show higher conversion rates compared with traditional filter-based booking flows.

Voice usage is higher in non-metro markets, the company said, with a majority of voice queries recorded in Hinglish. These interactions also tend to be longer and more detailed than typed searches.

The rollout of Myra 2.0 is currently underway, the company said.

The company said the updated assistant introduces six features, including end-to-end voice-based booking in eight languages, improved autocomplete suggestions, tap-based input options for preferences and traveller details, integrated payments, multimodal inputs such as images and documents, and the ability to ask contextual questions during an ongoing booking.
