Cleartrip partners with IRCTC to expand into train bookings

Cleartrip, a Flipkart Group company, announced the launch of train ticket booking services in partnership with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), the official ticketing arm of Indian Railways.

The integration enables users to search, book and manage train journeys through the Cleartrip mobile application.

With this addition, Cleartrip has expanded its offerings to include flights, hotels, buses, trains and holiday packages, positioning itself as a multi-modal travel platform. The company said the service will allow access to train bookings across routes in India, including General and Tatkal quotas as per Ministry of Railways guidelines.
The platform also provides features such as real-time seat availability, fare information, PNR status tracking, berth preferences and digital payment options within a single interface.

Cleartrip said the integration is aimed at simplifying train travel bookings through IRCTC’s infrastructure. “Train travel is a critical part of India’s mobility ecosystem, and this launch marks an important step towards realizing our vision of becoming a unified, multi-modal travel platform,” said Manjari Singhal, Chief Growth and Business Officer at Cleartrip.

Gaurav Patwari, Chief Business Officer (Air) at Cleartrip, said the segment represents a large passenger base and highlighted the focus on streamlining booking and post-booking services through the platform.

Indian Railways operates one of the world’s largest passenger networks, serving millions of travellers daily. Cleartrip said it plans to extend the train booking feature to its web platform in the next phase.
