Bahrain International Airport begins gradual resumption of flights after airspace reopening

Bahrain International Airport has begun the gradual resumption of flight operations following the reopening of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s airspace, according to an official update issued on April 8, 2026.

Bahrain Airport Company, the operator and managing body of the airport, confirmed that flights are being restored in phases after Civil Aviation Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications announced the reopening of airspace.

The airport said passengers are advised to check with their respective airlines for the latest updates regarding their flights.
In a separate advisory issued the same day, passengers were requested not to proceed to the airport unless they have a confirmed flight. Travellers were also asked to follow Bahrain International Airport’s official communication channels for real-time updates.

The airport authorities said they appreciate passengers’ understanding and patience as operations return to normal.

Separately, the King Fahd Causeway, which links Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, has reopened after an hours-long closure over possible Iranian threats, according to an announcement by the King Fahd Causeway Authority.

The closure followed a ballistic missile attack from Iran targeting Saudi Arabia that may have impacted energy infrastructure, although authorities have not elaborated on the extent of the damage. The causeway is the only road route connecting Bahrain to the Arabian Peninsula.
