Train No. 06085 will leave Ernakulam Junction at 9:30 pm on April 10, 17 and 24. It will reach Muzaffarpur Junction at 7:30 am on Mondays. For the return journey, Train No 06086 will depart from Muzaffarpur at 9:15 pm on April 13, 20 and 27, arriving back in Ernakulam at 10:45 am on Thursdays.
Key stations
The route has been planned to cover a wide stretch, giving more passengers a chance to travel during the busy holiday period. Key stops of this journey include stations like Aluva, Thrissur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Katpadi, Perambur in Chennai, Gudur, Nellore, Ongole, Vijayawada and Rajahmundry.
Besides, stations near Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Kharagpur, Asansol, Patna and Hajipur will also be covered. This ensures smoother connectivity across states without depending only on regular trains.
The Railways’ move comes at a time when trains are usually packed due to summer vacations. By adding these weekly specials, Railways is trying to ease the pressure and give passengers more options to plan their journeys comfortably.
Changes in train timings
At the same time, travellers passing through Chennai should note a few temporary changes. Ongoing upgrade work at Egmore railway station, especially on platforms 10 and 11, has led to shifts in departure points for some trains.
The Podhigai Express to Sengottai will run from Tambaram railway station between April 7 and April 22, with a departure time of 8:05 pm. The Charminar Express to Hyderabad will now start from Chennai Beach railway station from April 6 at 6:20 pm.
Passengers are advised to double-check their train details before heading out for their journeys. Keeping some extra time in hand can help avoid last-minute confusion.
Meanwhile, Railways has said these short-term changes are part of a larger effort to improve station facilities and handle more passengers in the future.
