The initiative also extended to Swaraj Dweep and Shaheed Dweep, where special diving sessions were organised exclusively for women, supported by local dive centres offering complimentary participation. These teams collected substantial marine debris, showcasing a strong commitment to conservation and the principles of sustainable tourism.
A senior official from the Marine Force, who participated in the drive, noted that diving not only builds self-confidence for women but also fosters awareness about marine ecology. District Collector Shivam Chandra has mandated that the survey of the proposed area be completed within two months of the notification’s publication.
These efforts reflect a broader focus on preserving fragile maritime environments in the Andamans while balancing strategic considerations in nearby Lakshadweep.
