With the much-anticipated final expected to draw massive crowds, the railways have stepped in to help fans travel conveniently to the venue.
Special trains announced for cricket fans
To manage the surge in travel demand ahead of the final, the Western Railway has announced the operation of several special superfast trains. The initiative aims to provide smoother connectivity for cricket enthusiasts planning to attend the high-profile match.
Several special trains will run between Saturday night and Sunday morning, ensuring that supporters can reach Ahmedabad in time for the match. The services will operate on key routes, including Bandra Terminus–Ahmedabad, Ahmedabad–Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, and Ahmedabad–Pune. These trains will run on special fares and are expected to cater to the heavy rush of passengers travelling for the final.
The announcement was made through the Western Railway’s official social media handle, which stated that the decision was taken to meet the travel demand as thousands of fans prepare to travel to Ahmedabad to watch the encounter.
Bookings are officially now open for these trains at all PRS counters and on the IRCTC website.

“Yesterday, I had met Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Pankaj Singh of Western Railway, requesting him to run two special trains from Mumbai to Ahmedabad on Saturday night and two special trains on Sunday morning for the T20 World Cup final to be held in Ahmedabad. I am thankful to him for agreeing to the request,” he was quoted as saying by Mid-Day.
India storm into the final
India secured their place in the final after an intense semi-final clash against England at the Wankhede Stadium. The match turned out to be a high-scoring thriller that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
A spectacular knock from Sanju Samson played a crucial role in India’s victory. Samson smashed 89 runs off just 42 balls, helping India post a massive total of 253/7 — the highest score ever recorded in a knockout match of the tournament.
England fought back strongly during the chase and finished at 246/7.
As excitement builds across the country, thousands of fans are now preparing to travel to Ahmedabad to witness the showdown and cheer for India in their quest to lift the T20 World Cup trophy once again.
