YouTube Premium Lite launched with very little features last year but now the platform is giving more reasons for people to sign up.

The Lite version of YouTube Premium is getting new benefits
YouTube Premium Lite is the new offering from the company but with less benefits compared to the main version. However, the platform is now making it more appealing for users so that they can see less ads during videos and some more features available for a lower price. YouTube says many users have asked for more reasons to sign up for the Premium Lite version, and now they have listened to that feedback.
As you might know, the Premium Lite in its new avatar was introduced back in May 2025 and later extended to one of the most important markets for YouTube, India.
The Premium Lite plan offers an ad-free experience, providing users with a budget-friendly alternative to the standard premium subscription.
YouTube Premium Lite New Benefits Unlocked
YouTube says the ad-free videos in the Premium Lite version are still limited to non-music content and that excludes Shorts. However, the company points out that ads may appear when you search or browse for content.
The other new addition for Lite users is the ability to download videos and play offline, which was previously not part of the Lite package. You still don’t get music and music videos ad-free, or other options like queuing music, continuing watching for videos and more.
YouTube Premium Lite in India is priced at Rs 89 per month which is Rs 60 (per month) less than what you would pay for the full Premium membership in the country. The Premium Lite version is also charged for a month and it allows subscribers to enjoy videos without seeing any ads.
However, unlike the standard Premium plans, the Premium Lite plan allows ad-free viewing only for select videos. The Lite membership works across devices, including phone, laptop, and TV as well.
YouTube wants more people to pay for its service, and to make its point clear, it has started blocking features like background playback that were still working through third-party web browsers. Brave has managed to bypass those changes and pushed its own update to let users enjoy watching videos ad-free for free.
