Google Chrome users in India have got another major security threat and the alert for this issue came via the Indian government a few days back. The latest Chrome security warning dated February 20, 2026 has been posted by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) with a high severity ranking, which ought to get millions of Chrome users in the country extremely concerned.
These issues with Chrome have become very frequent and Google will be surely worried about its impact in the market where it has the leading share.
Chrome Security Issue: Know The Details
The security agency of the Indian government has shared the details about the issue, who it affects and how it can be exploited to target users. “Multiple vulnerabilities exist in Google Chrome due to Heap buffer overflows in PDFium and Media; Integer overflow in V8. A remote attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by convincing a user to visit a specially crafted or malicious web page on the targeted system,” the CERT-In bulletin explains.
These are very important components built into the structure of the Chrome browser and the issues are serious enough for Google to take notice, same for the Indian government authorities.
There are obvious concerns about its impact, which the agency says can be used for, “Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code, cause memory corruption or trigger a denial of service (DoS) condition on the targeted system.”
The other big issue is that Chrome users across businesses and personal accounts can be targeted. They can be either using a Windows, Linux system or even macOS machine. Nobody is safe from the exploits if the hackers really wanted to. These are the Chrome versions across platforms:
- Google Chrome versions prior to 145.0.7632.109/110 for Windows
- Google Chrome versions prior to 145.0.7632.109/110 for Mac
- Google Chrome versions prior to 144.0.7559.109 for Linux
So, what is the way to stop these issues from being used to target the victims? Chrome users must download the latest available software update for Google Chrome on Windows, macOS and Linux. You can do this by heading over to the three-dot menu on Chrome – Settings – About – Update Chrome. Google has listed the security fixes that come with the stable channel update.
