Sony WF-1000XM6 launch is confirmed globally for this month
Sony’s flagship true wireless earbuds (TWS) is getting a big upgrade this month and the company has confirmed its new WF-1000XM6 model launching in February. Sony is still a big force in the audio segment and its new product will be announced three years after the last version came out in the market. The global reveal of the WF-1000XM6 from Sony was expected with recent product leaks making their way to the internet and people eager to see how the company upgrades on an already popular product.
Sony WF-1000XM6 Launch Date And More
Sony is launching the WF-1000XM6 earbuds on February 12, 2026 at 8:00 AM PT (9:30 PM IST) as confirmed by the brand via a launch teaser post on X. The company doesn’t say the name of the product but all signs point to the new WF series earbuds launching after a three year hiatus.
Sony WF-1000XM6 Earbuds: What To Expect
We can expect the WF-1000XM6 to improve on the audio quality with better codec support and other formats compatible for different platforms. The noise cancellation could also be upgraded so that you can listen to even less of the ambient sound. Leaks suggest Sony could use a MediaTek chip to power the new version that could support real-time audio upscaling, something that a premium product should have.
The design of the case and the buds on the 1000XM6 are likely to get some noticeable changes, including a flatter body for the case and more fitting layout for the buds. We could also see Sony change up the colour shades and have the new version launching in black, silver and even pink.
The previous version offers 8.4mm dynamic drivers on the buds with the Sony Integrated Processor V2 and HD Noise cancelling processor QN2e which is claimed to improve the noise cancellation further.
The company realised the mics weren’t the best in the segment, so working on that also improved the audio quality for calls and its reception. You have different modes that adapt to your surroundings, and you have an IPX4 rating which makes it water resistant.
