Alexa+ version is now coming to the web and all users in its home market.

Amazon is finally letting more people try its new Alexa+ AI service for free but only if they already pay for its Prime subscription. Amazon is taking it slow with these rollouts and wants to make sure the features meet its standard for a public release. As for what Alexa AI can do right now, Amazon says you can book an Uber, draft email (if you really need to) and search for products.

Alexa AI Plus is a paid service but the company is giving people the choice to try out the new version with their existing Prime membership which makes it a better deal for the money. Having said that, you still need to live in the US to try out the new Alexa AI avatar and other regions continue to wait for the global release of the assistant.

The Alexa AI Plus version costs $19.99 (Rs 1,720 approx) per month, but for Prime members, who pay $14.99 (Rs 1,290 approx) per month, they get the new AI avatar of Alexa and these new features for free, bundled with their membership.

Alexa+ For More Users: Free And Works On Web And Apps

Amazon has revised the conditions of accessing the Alexa+ version and this now includes people who can use it via the Alexa website or even the mobile app for free. For this version you don’t even need to be a Prime member but surely the features will be limited. And you have get Alexa+ in a chatbot version that is also free and lets you ask questions or plan for travel.

This is an intriguing move by the company which is still looking to fine tune the AI assistant before making it available in other regions like India. We’ve already seen Gemini and ChatGPT work through web browsers and Amazon taking this route feels quite logical.

Amazon claims since its launch of Alexa+ last year, millions have used the version via the early access program in the United States. The company has also mentioned that it is relying on the Nova and Anthropic AI models to power the new version of Alexa.

The Alexa+ version also has agentic capabilities which you can empower to order takeouts, find cafes of your preference, book a ride or even automate smart home devices.

While it is exciting to see Alexa make this AI comeback, we really can’t say much about it because Amazon continues to limit its availability to the US market even today. We really hope the company widens its release to other countries, including India so that the AI model can learn, evolve and compete with others in the arena.
