Apple could offer its biggest-ever iPhone battery on the Fold
Apple’s entry into the foldable market with iPhone could have other firsts, including its biggest ever battery packed into a device. The iPhone Fold rumours have picked up steam in recent weeks, and a new leak suggests more good news for the Apple fan boys, as the company looks to get serious in the foldable race this year.
The iPhone Air was mostly a precursor to Apple’s foldable journey, using a sleek design and accommodating a new hardware design that allows all the main components to sit at the top of the layer. All these changes are apparently going to allow the company to pack a massive 5,500mAh unit into its foldable which is heavily pegged to launch this year.
Big Expectations
The iPhone Fold leaks have shared some intriguing nuggets about the upcoming device but the new tip hints at Apple giving importance to the crucial aspects of the device. The battery size in question will be Apple’s biggest on an iPhone model but also bigger than what Samsung and Google have managed to pack into their foldables till date.
And if the company does manage to fit a 5,500mAh battery (with 60W charging, hopefully), we expect Apple to optimise the software so that the iPhone Fold can give you better endurance than most models in the market.
Previous reports suggest the iPhone Fold could feature a book-style design and carry a 7.8-inch main inner and a 5.3-inch cover display, as pointed out by Jeff Pu, analyst. The device could have a flatter body but 4.5mm thick when it is unfolded. The design of the iPhone Fold is likely to be a mix of titanium and aluminium like the iPhone Air model.
Apple will power its foldable device with the A20 Pro chipset that will be paired with the N2 neural engine and 12GB RAM all across the 18 series models for AI processing and Siri. The company is also tipped to be using the Apple C2 modem for faster data speeds and connectivity.
The iPhone Fold price is also another big subject to discuss, especially going by Apple’s track record of pricing its premium products in the past. We do hope the company goes aggressive and gives the current foldable duo a tough run in the market.
