Google Photos AI editing is now available for millions of users.

Google is finally bringing its new AI-powered editing tool in Photos for more users this week. The company is rolling out the Ask AI option in the Photos app for all Android users in India and other countries and you don’t need to use the Pixel 10 phone to get this feature anymore.

Google’s new AI feature had launched with the Pixel 10 models for users in the US earlier and they could simply ask Photos to edit the images for you. To make this feature work the Photos app has got a design overhaul, most likely with the Android 16 version, which now has a Gemini bar below the picture. The new tool lets you edit using text or voice prompts.

Google says the new AI editing tool in Photos for users in India will work in multiple languages like Hindi, Marathi, Telugu and Gujarati among others. More importantly, the company says you don’t need a Pixel phone to use the Gemini AI feature anymore.

“Thanks to advanced Gemini capabilities, Photos can now help you make custom AI-powered edits that bring your vision to life in just seconds. No need to select tools or adjust sliders. All you have to do is ask Photos for the edits you want to see,”

Google says you can get this editing tool working on Android phones with 4GB of RAM and running on Android 8 version or higher. This means the AI feature is now available for millions of Android users in the country.

The Photos app opens as usual, and lets you select a photo that you want Gemini to edit. You will see the ‘Help me edit’ bar where you can trigger Gemini and ask the AI model to edit/modify the image.

You get pre-defined options like remove background clutter, focus more on him/her etc. Besides that, you can change the background, remove objects from the image and let Gemini AI handle the thinking that is needed to complete the action. The AI option also includes Nano Banana editor to create or modify images in different styles and backgrounds.
