Apple’s iOS 27 update is not expected anytime soon but there is already some big news coming through about the next version from the company. These plans are done well in advance and the news about new emojis coming to iOS 27 have been briefed in a draft by the Unicode Consortium recently.
The published report talks about nine new emojis that could well be part of the iOS 27 emoji pack from Apple if all the versions get the go ahead before the final release.
iOS 27 Emojis Update This Year: Know More
The Unicode Emoji Standard has suggested the new emoji options, a total of nine that could be part of the final lineup once the Unicode Emoji 18.1 draft list is cleared. The emoji proposal list includes a smiley face with squinting eyes, a monarch butterfly, a pickle, a lighthouse, a meteor, an eraser that can remove pencil markings from paper, a handheld net, and leftward and rightward thumb gestures.
If these emojis pass the decision making process, expect both Apple and Google to design their own versions of these emojis that will be rolled out with the future iOS 27 and Android 17 updates later this year. The intriguing part about the Unicode journey is that Apple is yet to fully integrate the earlier version of the Unicode and reports suggest that might happen by the time the iOS 26.4 update rolls out in the next few months.
And once that happens, the company could start working with the version 18 list that should be finalised and in place for the iOS 27 version to be built and released later this year.
Apple is going to have another big year, not at least because of the new emojis. The company’s first iPhone Fold is expected to launch this year. We could also see a budget MacBook model announced in the next few months. There’s also the case of the iPhone 17e model tipped to be introduced in February like last year.
