Samsung could be going beyond Google to make its AI suite expand

Samsung and Google have become close pals in recent years which has allowed the former to gain first dibs on some of Google’s new AI features. But even then, it seems the South Korean giant is relying on other AI models to power its own Bixby AI version.

Samsung hasn’t said this officially but many tipsters have spotted the obvious signs with the Bixby Live feature which is Samsung’s version of Gemini Live for its Galaxy devices. The prospect of the new AI assistant has been highlighted through the One UI 8.5 beta leak which should be available to more users soon.

One UI 8.5 Bixby AI Upgrade Soon

Samsung is using Gemini to a large extent for its AI features but it seems the brand is happy to work with other AI players like DeepSeek and Perplexity. We have seen this being mentioned with Apple who is also seeking external help to make its Siri AI and other tools work for users.

Integrating more AI models means Bixby and Samsung’s AI suite is more expansive and feature-rich that brings more users to the ecosystem.

Like the other Live AI features, Bixby should help you with responses based on what it can see through your phone’s camera or even listen to your queries. It should also have image generation support via other models. DeepSeek has mostly been an active player in China while Perplexity has tried many ways to catch user interest.

It even signed up with telecom players to offer a free Perplexity AI Pro offer who can also access the Comet AI web browser using the free premium account.

The new Bixby Live will be available with the One UI 8.5 version which should become official with the Galaxy S26 launch sometime in February 2026. The AI era is getting a big jump, not in terms of the features but the price tag as well.

The memory shortage issues are already showing their impact with the 2026 phone launches this month showing us the gulf in specs and their sticker price making people doubt about the need to upgrade their device.
