Money Heist became a global success not just for its story but also its music that heightened the show’s sense of resistance and rebellion. Now, composer Ivan M. Lacámara, who worked on the series’ score, brings similar sensibility to Indian cinema with The Great Escape: Faraar, a heist thriller starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and directed by Kushagra Sharma. Ilia Volok, who previously appeared in Mission: Impossible, also stars in the film.
Speaking about bringing Ivan on board, Kushagra said as reported by ETimes, “My sister, Srishti Sharma, the producer of the film, and I have always been fans of Money Heist. Bella Ciao worked so well there because it represents rebellion, and our film is also about a common man who is pushed by the system and then stands up for his family. Srishti reached out to Ivan and his team, and things progressed from there.”
He added that the idea was never to replicate the original. “We wanted the track to have its own identity. It has Indian elements and fusion. The spirit of rebellion remains, but the way it has been adapted gives it a completely new feel. Ivan has composed one song for the film and the background score as well,” he said.

For Ivan, the project was a creative challenge. He explained that what interested him was the possibility of combining my music with Indian music, using instruments like the bansuri and tabla. He has always been fascinated by Indian music because of its rhythmic and harmonic depth. He added that the music originated as a cinematic theme for an early segment.
When it was so well received, they wanted to create an extended version that was quicker, more electronic, and could function as a standalone track. Sunidhi Chauhan sings the song alongside Swedish vocalist Jules Vikström. The Indian part of the song was co-written by music producer Diesel, an Indian-born composer living in Sweden. The song also features English lyrics, and her voice is ideal for the part.
