Agastya Nanda and his team are preparing for the premiere of their next film Ikkis, which had a special screening in Mumbai on Monday evening. A day ahead of the film release. Vivaan Shah discussed working with Shriram Raghavan, and playing the intriguing character of Captain Vijender Malhotra. He discusses acquiring army habits, establishing himself beyond his regular appearance to suit the role.

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Vivaan recalled his first meeting with Shriram Raghavan and said, “I was told that it’s a film about Arun Khetarpal and that it’s about the 71 war and I play the character of Captain Vijendra Malhotra which is an absolutely fascinating character.” Sharing interesting anecdotes about his character, Vivaan said the captain would bring his dog into war with him. He was also a bit of a prankster, as evidenced by the time he forced the entire regiment to follow the daily program in reverse. So he decided that we’d have breakfast at dinner time and dinner at breakfast time. And he sort of overturned the entire schedule. So everyone was sleeping during the day and up at night, carrying out their duty. Vivaan noted that his red scarf is a really important feature of his character.

Vivaan Shah On Why He Said Yes To Ikkis

Speaking about what attracted him the most to accept the role, he noted, “So there was all these fascinating character traits about him which which immensely gave me so much you know which immediately immersed me in the character and also gave me a lot of things from which to to work from and as we got further into the research as we got further into the tank training I think I started developing his body language his mannerisms. “

Lastly, sharing about the application he got for the character, Vivaan said, “I think the greatest compliment that I got after we had an army premiere a couple of days ago in Delhi which was visited by the chief of army staff and by the the Raksha Mantri and many people came up to me after the screening actual war veterans who had served under captain Vijendra Malhotra and they told me that they appreciated my performance.”
