Xiaomi 17 Ultra is finally here but is it good?

Xiaomi 17 Ultra has been unveiled in China this week and as the teasers have hinted, this is a camera-focused phone with flagship traits. The brand is using Leica to tune and build its new camera system for the device, power it with the latest flagship Snapdragon chipset and manage to improve on other fronts like battery, IP ratings for durability and make it as versatile as possible.

You also have the Android 16 version of HyperOS available out of the box, which hopefully gets regular updates. 

Xiaomi 17 Ultra Price And More 

Xiaomi 17 Ultra launch price starts at CNY 6,999 (Rs 89,400 approx) for the base 12GB + 512GB storage variant. You also have the 16GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB variants priced at CNY 7,499 (Rs 95,900 approx) and CNY 8,499 (Rs 1,08,700 approx), respectively. Xiaomi 17 Ultra sale in China starts from December 27 for buyers. 

Xiaomi 17 Ultra India Launch Expected? 

Xiaomi 17 Ultra launch in China has understandably raised the expectations about the flagship phone launching in India. Xiaomi 17 series is already confirmed for India in Q1 2026 and new reports suggest the 17 Ultra is likely to debut globally and in India around February 2026 with a possible news coming out during the MWC 2026 in Barcelona. 

Xiaomi 17 Ultra Specifications 

Xiaomi 17 Ultra gets a large 6.9-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate and Dragon crystal glass layer for protection. It is powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. The phone runs the HyperOS 3 version which is based on Android 16 and we expect Xiaomi to offer many upgrades. 

The device comes with IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings for better durability against dust and water. It comes with a massive 6,800mAh battery but still is 8.29mm thick and weighs around 224 grams. The unit gets 90W wired and 50W wireless fast charging speeds. But once again, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra launch brings excitement around its camera. 

It features a triple camera unit that has a 50MP main shooter with 1-inch sensor and OIS. You also have a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 200MP periscope telephoto lens with continuous zoom. The front has a 50MP shooter as well.
