A new Android security risk alert has been issued by the Indian government this week and it caters to billions of users as well as the brands that make Android phones. The new warning comes via the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) which claims the exploits have the potential to allow attackers to gain sensitive information, even for those who are using the latest and old Android phones in the country.

Android Security Risk: What We Know

The security alert from CERT-In comes with a high severity rating which is never ideal but the details about the risks have been highlighted in the post which tells you the seriousness of the issue. “Multiple vulnerabilities exist in Google Android due to flaws in the Android bug ID, Qualcomm reference number, MediaTek reference number, NVIDIA reference number, Broadcom reference number, UNISOC reference number.”

As you can see here, the Android risk is not only a concern for Google but chip makers like Qualcomm and MediaTek are also heavily affected, which indirectly means all the phones are in danger.

Android Security Issue: Who Is At Risk?

The security agency clearly mentions that Android 13, 14, 15 and even the latest 16 are not safe from the vulnerabilities which puts billions at risk in the country alone. The targets could be anyone, especially if they are able to exploit the issues.

And like we always say, having these many chip makers on the affected list means, brands like Samsung, Realme, OnePlus, Xiaomi and Vivo have to be concerned about the issue, and make sure they release security patches for these vulnerabilities right away.

What Is Google Doing?

Thankfully, Google has identified the issues and the security patches are available with more details. Now, it is up to the phone brands to develop their respective versions for the patches and roll them out at the earliest. The company has rolled out its latest Android security patch for December 2025 which should handle most of the issues and fix the loopholes to protect the users.
