iPhones continue to make their way to Apple’s vintage and obsolete list and the latest additions are some very eye-catching models. The first-gen iPhone SE is now part of the special list for the company which means their sale has been stopped for a few years and their parts will be hard to source if you face any repairs.

In addition to this you also have the iPad Pro 12.9 2nd gen model part of the lineup as both the products reach their end of support cycle.

End Of iPhone SE For Apple

The first iPhone SE model made its debut in 2016 priced at Rs 39,000 which got you the 16GB storage variant. Apple stopped selling the model in 2018 as the iPhone SE 2020 model was launched a couple of years later.

Similarly, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro came out in 2017 and Apple stopped making the model a year into its debut. Apple Watch Series 4 Hermes and Nike versions are also now joining alongside the other devices.

Why Vintage And Obsolete?

Apple has been very clear about the logic of these lists and when a product qualifies to be part of either or both of them. The iPhone SE launched in 2016 is now 9 years old, and that means Apple will not have the parts to fix the device or even help the users with support and OS upgrades. This means anybody using the iPhone SE model should upgrade to a newer model.

The term obsolete means the product support and its parts for repair are hard to source from anywhere, including Apple’s own store.

Since the last iPhone SE was announced, Apple has overhauled its affordable lineup with the new iPhone 16e model this year. The company even has plans to launch the iPhone 17e version in early 2026 and most reports hint at an iPhone 17-like display and hardware but the continued use of a single camera at the back.
