iPhone 17e could borrow a lot of features from the premium iPhone 17
iPhone 17e is launching early next year and Apple is keen to give it the right upgrades so that it doesn’t fall into the same impact (or lack of) like its predecessor. A new leak suggests the iPhone 17e will look more like the iPhone 17 model albeit with some limitations to keep the launch price much lower.
This means the wide notch from the iPhone 16e could give way for the Dynamic Island which allows you to get live updates for delivery and cabs, along with other tasks like music playback. The sales of the iPhone 16e have been below par as per multiple reports, so upgrades are vital for the next version to succeed.
iPhone 17e Launching In 2026: What To Expect
The leak sourced via a post on Weibo suggests the big display upgrade for the iPhone 17e which now feels unavoidable, especially with all the iPhone models in the market coming with that feature. Dynamic Island has become part of the iPhone identity and other brands have also adopted it in some shape or form with Android phones.
However, don’t expect premium features like ProMotion 120Hz display on the 17e, as it will continue to support the standard 60Hz refresh rate on the regular 6.1-inch OLED panel.
The affordable iPhone 17 model is tipped for a change with the selfie camera. Analyst Jeff Pu had said the new device will have the same 18MP front shooter as the premium iPhone 17 models.
This is a big upgrade because the new front sensor is squarish which allows you to take both portrait and landscape selfies without tilting the phone. The back of the device is likely to continue with a single camera module which hopefully gets an iPhone 17 upgrade as well.
The other changes with the iPhone 17e could be the use of the A19 chipset like the regular iPhone 17 model.
Earlier reports hint at a Q1 2026 launch timeframe for the iPhone 17e which suggests it could be around February or March when Apple brings the new device to the market early next year. In addition to the iPhone 17e we could also see the rumoured budget MacBook model unveiled around the same time and the early signs hint at a strong product that could have iPhone-like impact in markets like India.
