The Indian women’s cricket team will face Sri Lanka in a five-match T20I series next month. According to the schedule shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on X on Friday, November 28, the first two matches will be played at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on December 21 and 23, and Thiruvananthapuram’s Greenfield International Stadium will host the last three T20Is on December 26, 28 and 30.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announces the schedule for the upcoming IDFC FIRST Bank Women’s T20I series as India hosts Sri Lanka for a five-match contest next month. The series will begin in Visakhapatnam before moving to Thiruvananthapuram for the remaining fixtures,” BCCI said in a release on Friday.

Since winning the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 final on November 2 in Navi Mumbai, India have not played an international match.

Following the conclusion of the T20I series in December, Indian players will take part in the 2026 edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). WPL 2026 will be played from January 9 to February 5 in Navi Mumbai and Vadodara.

The T20I series against Sri Lanka at home and WPL 2026 will help Indian players prepare well for the T20 World Cup 2026. The 2026 edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will be played from June 15 to July 6 across seven venues in England. A total of 12 teams will feature in the 10th edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup.

After winning their maiden ODI World Cup title in November this year, India would like to win their first-ever T20 World Cup as well next year.
